(The title “Les âges de la femme” is taken from Klimt’s table “The three ages of the woman” where she would be locked in a cycle related to her motherhood: she is child, then mother, then grandmother, no other possibility is mentioned. It is also taken from pyramids of life that were found at the beginning of the twentieth century where all the ages of the woman are determined and traced according to the vocation of mother and wife.)

It could be a commentary on the different states of a woman’s life. The way in which society apprehends these different states, the way in which women apprehend themselves, from what this same society wants and fantasizes about them. The injunction to maternity, the imperatives of beauty, youth, seduction, cosmetic surgery and all the manipulations that result from these same injunctions… shape the different female characters that I have chosen to embody successively in the image. For this photographic series, and by evoking the inert, morbid and offered bodies of ancient anatomical venus, I make my body a place of projections and transformations. I explore how the same body can look different from one image to another, how it can be modified, abandoned by artifice and staging. However, makeup, wigs, prostheses and other devices are embodied: they are not part of any digitalized retouching. A large part of inspirations such as cosmetic tricks comes from the tutorials that abound today on the networks to create and improve the image of oneself: tapes that you impose to refine or make disappear a double chin, the wax that you use to rebuild your nose instantly, the gloss with chili pepper that you put on your lips to make them swell, the elastics to pull your eyes and create a canthopexy without going through the scalpel.
